Action

1
PURPOSE: INSPECT VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (VCM) AND BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) FOR MALFUNCTION
• Switch the ignition off/main power OFF, and then switch it ON (engine off)/(READY off).
• Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM) and body control module (BCM). (See DTC INSPECTION.)
• Is a DTC related to an internal malfunction displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.
2
PURPOSE: REAR SIDE RADAR SENSOR FOR MALFUNCTION
• Perform the DTC inspection for the following modules. (See DTC INSPECTION.)
― Rear side radar sensor (LH)
― Rear side radar sensor (RH)
• Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.
3
PURPOSE: VERIFY IF REAR SIDE RADAR SENSOR FUNCTION IS STOPPED DUE TO TEMPORARY INCREASE IN INTERNAL TEMPERATURE
• Start the engine and move the vehicle to a cool place.
• Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC.)
• Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM). (See DTC INSPECTION.)
• Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Explain to the customer that the rear side radar sensor function stopped due to a temporary decrease in the internal temperature of the rear side radar sensor, and then go to repair completion verification 2.
4
PURPOSE: DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS REAR SIDE RADAR SENSOR ON EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT
• Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
• Disconnect the rear side radar sensor (RH) connector.
• Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC.)
• Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM). (See DTC INSPECTION.)
• Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes
Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
• If the malfunction recurs, replace the rear side radar sensor (LH), then go to the next step. (Refer to [REAR SIDE RADAR SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.)
No
Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
• If the malfunction recurs, replace the rear side radar sensor (RH) and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to [REAR SIDE RADAR SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.)
5
PURPOSE: INSPECT REAR SIDE RADAR SENSOR (RH) FOR MALFUNCTION DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY
• Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
• If the malfunction recurs, replace the rear side radar sensor (RH) and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to [REAR SIDE RADAR SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.)
No
Perform the repair completion verification 2.
Repair completion verification 1
PURPOSE: VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED
• Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
• Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC.)
• Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM). (See DTC INSPECTION.)
• Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes

If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
• If the malfunction recurs, replace the body control module (BCM), then go to the next step. (Refer to [BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.)
No
Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2
PURPOSE: VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
• Perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION.)
• Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
