PURPOSE: INSPECT SAS CONTROL MODULE CONNECTORS CONNECTION CONDITION
Warning
• Handling the component parts improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag and the pre-tensioner seat belt, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings and cautions before handling the component parts of the SAS air bag system. (Refer to [AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS] in workshop manual.) (Refer to [AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS] in workshop manual.)
• Switch the ignition/main power OFF.
• Disconnect the negative battery terminal/negative lead-acid battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (Refer to [NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION] in workshop manual.)
• Disconnect the following connectors.
― Front seat driver and passenger-side side air bag modules (Refer to [SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.) (Refer to [PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.) (Refer to [DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL] in workshop manual.) (Refer to [DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.)
― Rear seat driver and passenger-side side air bag modules (Refer to [SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.) (Refer to [PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.) (Refer to [DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL] in workshop manual.) (Refer to [DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.)
― Driver and passenger-side curtain air bag modules (Refer to [CURTAIN AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.)
― Driver-side far side air bag module
― Driver and passenger-side front seats (Refer to [FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.)
― Driver and passenger-side front pre-tensioner seat belts (Refer to [FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.)
― Driver and passenger-side rear pre-tensioner seat belts (Refer to [REAR SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.)
• Are all SAS control module connectors correctly connected?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Connect the SAS control module connectors correctly and perform repair completion verification 1.
2
PURPOSE: VERIFY PARTIAL DISCONNECTION DETECTION BAR OF SAS CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR
• Disconnect all of the SAS control module connectors. (Refer to [SAS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.)
• Verify the condition of the partial disconnection detection bar terminal of the SAS control module connector.(Corrosion, damage, and disconnected pins)
• Is the partial disconnection detection bar of the SAS control module connector normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the air bag wiring harness and perform repair completion verification 1.
Repair completion verification 1
PURPOSE: VERIFY IF VEHICLE IS REPAIRED
• Switch the ignition/main power OFF.
• Connect the SAS control module connectors.
• Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
• Connect the negative battery terminal/negative lead-acid battery terminal. (Refer to [NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION] in workshop manual.)
• Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on)/switch the main power ON (READY off or on).
• Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC.)
• Perform the DTC inspection for the SAS control module. (See DTC INSPECTION.)
• Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Refer to the CAN (controller area network) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1 again.
• If the malfunction is not resolved, replace the SAS control module, then go to the next step. (Refer to [SAS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in workshop manual.)
No
Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2
PURPOSE: VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs ARE DISPLAYED
• Perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION.)
• Are other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
